Rob and Anne Gibson founded Gibson in 1997, transforming an 1850s settler's cottage into their cellar door. Previously at Penfolds Rob led the viticulture research into Grange. He brings a wealth of experience to Gibson.
Gibson source fruit from their Light Pass vineyard in the Barossa Valley and their cooler Eden Valley vineyard. Their Light Pass site is planted to Merlot, while their Eden Valley site is home to Riesling and old Shiraz vines dating back to the early 1900s. Gibson also source from growers in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, playing to the strengths of different vineyard sites.
Gibson's lead range is the very limited Australian Old Vine Collection, produced from old vine vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. These vines are classified in the Barossa Old Vine Charter project.
